A Joke

I was sitting in the park on beautiful spring day, when I noticed some strange behavior from the park workers. One worker was digging a hole. As soon as the worker finished, another worker came along and refilled the hole.

I watched this for about an hour and could not figure out the purpose. So, I walked up to the workers and asked the first one, “Why do you dig a hole and your buddy just fills it in?”

“I do not know. I only know that I need to dig a hole.”

I asked the second worker the same question.

“I do not know either. I only know that I need to fill in the hole. But you know, I bet the guy who is out sick today knows.”

So I watched and waited. Sure enough, a week later I noticed 3 workers. The first one dug the hole as before. The second one put something into the hole and put in some water. The third guy came along and filled the hole. I ran toward them and asked the second person what he was doing. "I put in the seedling and give it some water."
